This is a good move! You and the patrol aircraft have the U-Boat pinned down. It's time to go in for the kill! Ten depth charges are more than enough to damage or sink a sub if they are on target.
After your depth charges explode your ship circles back over the contact area. Your ASDIC operator has lost contact and it looks as if the U-Boat has escaped - if it was a U-Boat at all.
Suddenly one of the lookouts on the Canso signals your ship. The U-Boat is surfacing! A few moments later you see a patch of water start to boil and foam white as the U-Boat breaks the surface.
Your
captain orders the crew to man all guns and prepare to open fire at the sub. The U-Boat crew has no intention of fighting however. They launch rafts or simply jump over the side and start swiming away.
A few moments later the U-Boat shudders. You hear the sound of explosions and see thick black smoke pour from the boat. Then the sub slid back under water, stern first. Your ship collects the survivors
and steams back to its escort station. Your captain radios the Canso, "Thanks for the assist, Air Force, but leave it to the Navy to finish the job!"
