Air Attack on the North Africa Run

The enemy aircraft are buzzing all around the convoy. Some try high level attacks - dropping bombs from 3,000 metres. These are usually easier to avoid. The most dangerous ones are the dive bombers. These planes line up their target, then drop in a steep dive directly at a ship. The bomb follows the planes path - straight at a ship - then the plan pulls up and escapes. The convoy's ships sail in a rapidly changing zig zag motion to throw off the bomb aimers, while the ships' guns open up with everything they have. The bridge crew have to keep one eye looking up for attacking aircraft, and one eye looking around, to avoid collisions with other ships.

Suddenly one of the lookouts sees an aircraft behaving oddly. The plane is flying unusually slowly and is very close to the water.

What should the captain do?

A. Do nothing. This plane is in trouble. It's about to crash into the sea.

B. Get as many guns as possible to aim at it, it's a sitting duck!

C. Order full speed and prepare for an emergency turn! But watch out for collisions with other ships!
