September: The 2nd Canadian Division joins the First Canadian Division in France. The two divisions are united as the Canadian Corps

September 5: Tsar Nicholas II takes personal control over Russia's armies.

September 25: The Battle of Loos and the Second Battle of Champagne take place. British and French forces attempt simultaneous attack but both are failures due to strong German counter-attacks. A critical shortage of artillery shells became a major problem in sustaining the attacks.

December: The Third Canadian Division arrives in France
